The Seoul Metropolitan Government has approved Hyundai Motor’s plans to construct its new headquarters, or Global Business Center (GBC), in Seoul’s Samseong neighborhood, where the Korea Electric Power Corporation once stood. The city issued Hyundai a building permit on Nov. 26 for what’s expected to become South Korea’s tallest building at 105 stories (569m). The city’s approval came after a four-year delay caused by concerns from the South Korean Air Force that the building’s sheer height would interfere with radar and impede air operations. In addition to offices, the GBC is expected to be furnished with a car theme park, a hotel, a concert hall, and a convention center.
