Consumption of granola cereal and almond milk is on the rise in South Korea. According to the consulting firm Nielsen Korea, the South Korean cereal industry expanded from 36.1 billion won (US$30.51 million) in 2017 to 45 billion won (US$38.03 million) in 2018, and is expected to hit 533 billion won (US$450.41 million) for 2019. Similarly, sales for almond milk and other milk alternatives rose by 17% between Oct. 28 and Nov. 27, 2019, compared to the same period last year. Experts pointed to an increasing interest in health and an aging population as factors, as less children results in a decreased demand for traditional milk.
