[Photo] Civic groups protest Japan’s discrimination against Chosen Gakko in New York

Civic groups gathered outside the Japanese Consulate General in New York to protest Japan’s discriminatory policies toward the Chosen Gakko (Korean schools within Japan financially supported by North Korea) on Dec. 20. Japan recently excluded the Chosen Gakko from government benefits as well as free high school education status. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child condemned such discrimination as “unfair” in February. (provided by Kim Chang-jong)
